Frequently Asked Questions
1. What will it cost to complete my training?
Please contact us for an estimation on the latest pricing and our staff will get back to you.
2. How long will it take to complete my training?
It all depends on a few factors, such as how often you can train, the weather, and the availability of the helicopters and instructors. If you plan on training in 4 or 5 days a week, it can take as little as 3 months but everyone’s training requirements are unique, therefore it can be shortened or lengthened, depending on the clients availability.
3. What qualifications are needed to start training?
There are no qualifications needed other than the Licence Requirements.
4. Is there a set schedule on how to complete my training or can I do it at my own pace?
Not at all, you can start your training when it suits you. We work on a one-on-one basis so that each student receives the individual attention that is required. The ground school is done in groups, if there are enough students, but we also give one-on-one lectures if it is needed.
5. Do you offer introductory flights and what do they entail?
We do offer “Intro Flights” for those who would like to see what flying a helicopter is all about. This is approximately a 30 minute flight with a qualified instructor who will show you how the aircraft is flown. For more information about the Intro Flight or to make a booking, please contact us.
6. Is there accommodation and transport available during the training?
ATS has a self-catering guest house, called the Heli Inn, where students can stay while completing their training. For more information, please contact us.
7. I hold a valid Commercial Fixed Wing license but would like to do my Commercial Helicopter License. What are the requirements?
Please view our Licence Requirements page.
8. Do you offer Groundschool for CPL & ATP?
We offer a full groundschool course for fixed wing and helicopter pilots for CPL & ATP licences. Please view our introductory presentation or contact us for details.
