The Unfortunate Misleading Promises for Flying Careers or Job Opportunities

Posted by Ivan van Rooyen on 25 August 2011

I would like to start off by saying that I read an article “not so long ago”, it’s all about how to get a guaranteed job as a pilot. This article is not only false, but many have written the same fictional stories. I must admit, there are very good guidelines in some of these articles but please if you ever hear the words “Guaranteed Job” or “Guaranteed Hours” please let me know – I have plenty people who would love to hear about the same fictional dream.

I would further like to say that South African aviation is but a very small plant that still needs plenty water and not so many seeds therefore follow any guidelines to up your chances. Do as many ratings as possible and pass all the exams that you physically can, this will give you the best possible chance in finding a job.

All schools and recruiting facilities can not promise nor guarantee a certain amount of hours that you will fly. What WE can do is try our best to get you in the door, or give you odd flights when they come up and try to get your CV as far as we possibly can which in turn gives you the upper hand.

Therefore please feel free to send your CV’s to us so we can keep you on our books, to try and give you the opportunity you deserve, and we can try push your CV as far as possible into the aviation world.

As I said we can’t guarantee anything, no one can, but we at ATS will “promise to try our best” to give you paid opportunities and also to get your CV out there and keep you posted on any available openings.

I will keep this one short and sweet and follow up in the near future.

Please fly safe and enjoy every second of it!!
